I have this issue on a laptop. Booting on the 160 kernel leads to a black screen Selecting advanced settings at the Grub menu, and advanced settings for 160 loads the menu and if I select "Resume Boot" and can boot to a working screen (though my HDMI out doesn't work)
Booting to the 157 kernel - both screen and HDMI output work fine. Thanks folks! Eventually the fans stop and the system sits idle with no video output. I updated the kernel using the system update tool. This system is down stream on Mint, so I can't use the instructions as written in the submission form. But I will do my best. I had to roll back to -157 to write this report. Hope this helps.
