The issue seems to be resolved. The kernel has finally updated
successfully, and the system is now booting normally. I’m closing the
report since the problem appears to be fixed (at least for now).

Title:
Kernel update to 6.8.0-84 fails due to NVIDIA DKMS error → system does
not boot with this kernel.

Bug description:
1) I was updating as always through Discover and this error appeared:
The Package failed to install:
Error while installing package: installed linux-
headers-6.8.0-84-generic package post-installation script subprocess
returned error exit status 1
2) After reboot, the system does not show an image after GRUB when
booting 6.8.0-84.
3) Booting with an older kernel works.
4) Attempting to update/repair from the working kernel still fails with the
same error.
Expected result:
Kernel 6.8.0-84 should install and boot normally with NVIDIA driver.
Actual result:
Installation fails, DKMS aborts, and system cannot boot into the new kernel.
