Environment Details:
Laptop Model: Acer Nitro ANV15-51
Problematic Kernel: linux-image-6.14.0-29-generic
Working Kernel: linux-image-6.14.0-27-generic
Storage Setup: Dual Boot on NVMe SSDs (Disk Mode is set to AHCI in
BIOS/UEFI).
When attempting to boot the specific kernel version 6.14.0-29-generic,
the system fails to locate and mount the root filesystem (Ext4 partition
on NVMe SSD). The boot process halts and drops into the (initramfs)
BusyBox shell with an ALERT! UUID does not exist error message.
Steps to Reproduce:
Boot the system via GRUB.
Select the entry using the 6.14.0-29-generic kernel.
Expected Result:
The system should successfully boot to the Ubuntu login screen.
Actual Result:
The system stops at the (initramfs) shell (BusyBox v1.36.1) and is unable to
find disk devices (running ls /dev/sd* or blkid fails).
Attempted Fixes (Did Not Work):
Attempted to repair the kernel image by running the command:
sudo dpkg-reconfigure linux-image-6.14.0-29-generic
This operation did not resolve the issue.
A filesystem check (fsck) was performed and completed successfully, but
the boot failure persisted.
Workaround:
Booting into the previous kernel version, linux-image-6.14.0-27-generic,
resolves the issue, and the system starts normally.
