Public bug reported:
Summary:
After updating to kernel 5.15.0-153-generic on a Lenovo ThinkCentre-M70q-Gen-2
running Linux Mint 21.3, the system fails to boot and freezes with multiple
ACPI errors. The system boots normally using the previous kernel version,
5.15.0-151-generic.
Steps to Reproduce:
Have a Linux Mint 21.3 system installed on the specified hardware.
Update the kernel to version 5.15.0-153-generic.
Reboot the system and select the new kernel from the GRUB menu.
Expected Behavior:
The system should boot to the desktop normally.
Actual Behavior:
The boot process freezes completely with a series of ACPI errors, making the
system unresponsive. It was not possible to interact with a command line.
Access to a shell was only possible by booting into a working kernel's recovery
mode.
System Information:
OS: Linux Mint 21.3 Cinnamon
Computer Model: LENOVO 11MY002LIV
BIOS Information:
Vendor: LENOVO
Version: M3JKT2AA
Release Date: 10/15/2021
BIOS Revision: 1.42
Working Kernel Version: 5.15.0-151-generic
Problematic Kernel Version: 5.15.0-153-generic

Troubleshooting Attempts:
The following boot parameters were added to the GRUB configuration but did not
resolve the issue:
acpi=off
nomodeset
pci=noacpi
acpi_osi='Windows 2015'
A workaround was found by reverting to the previous kernel version
(5.15.0-151-generic).
