Also if you are using Nvidia on Ubuntu 24.04 then please log into a Xorg
session (not 'Ubuntu on Wayland').

Wayland support for Nvidia is not complete in 24.04 and there are still
problems like bug 2117339.

Title:
After updating to NVIDIA driver **580.65.06 (open kernel module, MOK
signed)**, Nautilus (GNOME Files) consistently crashes when right-
clicking on files such as PDFs or images

Status in nvidia-graphics-drivers-580 package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  - Right-clicking **folders** works fine.
  - Right-clicking **files** causes Nautilus to freeze.
  - Running Nautilus with software rendering avoids the crash:
    ``LIBGL_ALWAYS_SOFTWARE=1 nautilus''

  - Similarly, resizing the **gnome-text-editor** window causes it to freeze.
  - Running gnome-text-editor with software rendering avoids the crash:
    ``LIBGL_ALWAYS_SOFTWARE=1 gnome-text-editor text.txt''

This strongly suggests a regression in the NVIDIA 580 driver with GTK4/EGL
rendering.
  --------------------------
  Steps to reproduce:
      -Open Nautilus.
-Navigate to any directory containing files (e.g. PDF, PNG).
      -Right-click on a file.

-Open text editor: gnome-text-editor text.txt and resize the
  window using mouse cursor.

  Actual result:
Nautilus freezes. After a few seconds, it needs to be killed.
gnome-text-editor freezes. After a few seconds, it needs to be killed.

related (tested).
