I've just updated an Asus Laptop with Intel graphics to 24.04-3 which
all went smoothly until providing the password to the LUKS volume during
startup. The LUKS password dialog displayed as expected then after a
second or so there's a flash of the screen and it's like there's an
overlay and no password characters seemed to register.

Adding i915 to /etc/initramfs-tools/modules and running "update-
initramfs -u" cured this problem for me too.

BRIGHTNESS Control: adding this module also fixed the brightness
controls Fn+F5 / Fn+F6 which after the update were fixed on full
brightness.

As anyone encountering the above problems may also be stuck with the
Touchpad permanently on, removing the synaptics module:

 sudo apt remove xserver-xorg-input-synaptics

Now Fn+F9 toggles the Elantech touchpad on/off again - as it should!

Title:
Cannot enter luks password at boot after kernel 6.8.0-50 upgrade

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
Upgraded Ubuntu 24.04 software, including kernel 6.8.0-50, after which
upon booting the luks password couldn't be entered (dialog
unresponsive). Was able to boot 6.8.0-49. Could boot 6.8.0-50 with
quiet splash commented out - with text input.

Added i915 (my video driver) to /etc/initramfs-tools/modules and
updated initrd, after which could boot 6.8.0-50.
