Public bug reported:
system: ubuntu 22.04.05 LTS.
hardware: raspberry pi 4 model B+, kernel 5.15.0-1085-raspi
problem:
i have a (almost*)fixed setup, all kernels upto but not-including the
'5.15.0-1085-raspi' (and all of it's associated packages) would tolerate abrupt
power-outage. starting with the version mentioned (introduces around
2025-08-30) abrupt power-outages are causing file-system corruption, such that
a abrupt power-out will cause file-system corruption, large number of corrupted
inodes, 'lost+found' full of small files, boot failure (requires manual fsck to
get it working again, and even corrupted files in /var/lib/dpkg/info/*). this
system is mostly idling, i can verify until now i have got two fs corruptions
on idle system.
some support info:
current system on past kernels tolerated nearly a hundered power outages
without file system corruption (orphaned safe-to-remove inodes was the worst i
would get, no boot failure, and no files in 'lost+found') . until now two
instances of power outages on the newer kernels caused fs corruption.
