As a different solution can you try to pick up this revert? It will more closely match what happened in the upstream kernel then.
commit 7e7cb7a13c81073d38a10fa7b450d23712281ec4 Author: Mario Limonciello <[email protected]> Date: Thu May 22 09:13:28 2025 -0500 Revert "drm/amd: Keep display off while going into S4" commit 68bfdc8dc0a1a ("drm/amd: Keep display off while going into S4") attempted to keep displays off during the S4 sequence by not resuming display IP. This however leads to hangs because DRM clients such as the console can try to access registers and cause a hang. After a recent kernel upgrade to 6.14.0-28.28~24.04.1 I've noticed that after the system is resumed from hibernate, the display doesn't go into standby. It goes there briefly, but then immediately wakes up showing black screen. In the logs I can see the following message every time this is attempted: [drm:parse_edid_cea_dmub.constprop.0 [amdgpu]] *ERROR* EDID CEA parser failed I've checked old logs, this message never appeared before. Downgrading to 6.14.0-27.27~24.04.1 appears to fix the problem. --- ProblemType: Bug ApportVersion: 2.28.1-0ubuntu3.8 Architecture: amd64 AudioDevicesInUse: USER PID ACCESS COMMAND /dev/snd/controlC1: dop 3872 F.... wireplumber /dev/snd/controlC2: dop 3872 F.... wireplumber /dev/snd/controlC0: dop 3872 F.... wireplumber /dev/snd/seq: dop 3868 F.... pipewire CRDA: N/A CasperMD5CheckResult: pass CurrentDesktop: ubuntu:GNOME DistroRelease: Ubuntu 24.04 InstallationDate: Installed on 2024-10-24 (306 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 24.04.1 LTS "Noble Numbat" - Release amd64 (20240827.1) MachineType: AZW SER Package: linux-hwe-6.14 (not installed) ProcEnviron: LANG=en_GB.UTF-8 LANGUAGE=en_GB:en PATH=(custom, no user) SHELL=/bin/bash TERM=xterm-256color ProcFB: 0 amdgpudrmfb ProcKernelCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/vmlinuz-6.14.0-28-generic root=/dev/mapper/ubuntu--vg-ubuntu--lv ro quiet splash resume=/dev/mapper/ubuntu--vg-swap vt.handoff=7 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 6.14.0-28.28~24.04.1-generic 6.14.8 RelatedPackageVersions: linux-restricted-modules-6.14.0-28-generic N/A linux-backports-modules-6.14.0-28-generic N/A linux-firmware 20240318.git3b128b60-0ubuntu2.15 Tags: noble Uname: Linux 6.14.0-28-generic x86_64 UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) UserGroups: N/A _MarkForUpload: True dmi.bios.date: 03/12/2024 dmi.bios.release: 5.24 dmi.bios.vendor: American Megatrends International, LLC. dmi.bios.version: SER6p_P5C8V11 dmi.board.asset.tag: Default string dmi.board.name: SER dmi.board.vendor: AZW dmi.board.version: V10 dmi.chassis.asset.tag: Default string dmi.chassis.type: 35 dmi.chassis.vendor: Default string dmi.chassis.version: Default string dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnAmericanMegatrendsInternational,LLC.:bvrSER6p_P5C8V11:bd03/12/2024:br5.24:svnAZW:pnSER:pvrV1:rvnAZW:rnSER:rvrV10:cvnDefaultstring:ct35:cvrDefaultstring:sku06: dmi.product.family: SER dmi.product.name: SER dmi.product.sku: 06 dmi.product.version: V1 dmi.sys.vendor: AZW To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-hwe-6.14/+bug/2121449/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~kernel-packages Post to : [email protected] Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~kernel-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
