Public bug reported: [Impact] On Dell platforms using either Linux 6.11.0-1021-oem or 6.14.0-1005-oem, we observed call traces when unplugging a HDMI/DP/VGA cable from an external monitor.
[Fix] Apply the following patch from the mailing list [email protected] fixes the issue: - [PATCH 06/18] drm/amd/display: limit clear_update_flags to dcn32 and above While the patch is still under review, an SRU is required out of urgency. Link: https://lore.kernel.org/amd- gfx/[email protected]/ [Test Plan] 1. Boot into an Ubuntu OS 2. Connect a HDMI/DP/VGA cable into an external monitor 3. Check whether a call trace appears [Where problems could occur] This patch changes the behavior of AMD GPUs with DCN version higher than 3.2. It might cause regression on these GPUs. ** Affects: hwe-next Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: linux-oem-6.14 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Invalid ** Affects: Ubuntu Noble Importance: Undecided Status: Invalid ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu Noble) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: linux-oem-6.14 (Ubuntu Noble) Importance: Undecided Status: In Progress ** Affects: Ubuntu Plucky Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu Plucky) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: linux-oem-6.14 (Ubuntu Plucky) Importance: Undecided Status: Invalid ** Affects: Ubuntu Questing Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu Questing) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: linux-oem-6.14 (Ubuntu Questing) Importance: Undecided Status: Invalid ** Tags: delta jira-delta-253 jira-somerville-2225 oem-priority somerville ** Also affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: linux-oem-6.14 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: linux (Ubuntu Noble) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: linux-oem-6.14 (Ubuntu Noble) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: Ubuntu Noble Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: linux (Ubuntu Plucky) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: linux-oem-6.14 (Ubuntu Plucky) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: Ubuntu Plucky Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: linux (Ubuntu Questing) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: linux-oem-6.14 (Ubuntu Questing) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: Ubuntu Questing Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: Ubuntu Noble Status: New => Invalid ** No longer affects: ubuntu ** Changed in: linux-oem-6.14 (Ubuntu Noble) Status: New => In Progress ** Changed in: linux-oem-6.14 (Ubuntu Plucky) Status: New => Invalid ** Changed in: linux-oem-6.14 (Ubuntu Questing) Status: New => Invalid ** Tags added: jira-somerville-2225 oem-priority somerville ** Tags added: delta jira-delta-253 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2116908 Title: [AMDGPU] Call trace occurs when unplugging a HDMI/DP/VGA cable on a Dell platform Status in HWE Next: New Status in linux package in Ubuntu: New Status in linux-oem-6.14 package in Ubuntu: Invalid Status in The Noble Numbat: Invalid Status in linux source package in Noble: New Status in linux-oem-6.14 source package in Noble: In Progress Status in The Plucky Puffin: New Status in linux source package in Plucky: New Status in linux-oem-6.14 source package in Plucky: Invalid Status in The Questing Quokka: New Status in linux source package in Questing: New Status in linux-oem-6.14 source package in Questing: Invalid Bug description: [Impact] On Dell platforms using either Linux 6.11.0-1021-oem or 6.14.0-1005-oem, we observed call traces when unplugging a HDMI/DP/VGA cable from an external monitor.
