*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 2105402 ***

I've experienced this on an imac mid 2011 (neither in-place upgrades boot
properly nor booting from the 25.04 iso). Also, an imac late 2013 can't boot
the 24.05 iso.
The Kubuntu 25.04 also doesn't boot. After grub, the machines sit on a black
screen with a steady cursor.

Title:
  Upgrade 24.10 -> 25.04 does not boot (MacBookPro8,2)

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  On Ubuntu 24.10, kernel package linux-image-6.11.0-24-generic boots.
  After upgrading to Ubuntu 25.04, kernel package linux-image-6.14.0-15-generic
gets stuck at:

  EFI stub: Loaded initrd from LLINUX_EFI_INITRD_MEDIA_GUID device path

  Selecting the older kernel version from grub boot menu allows
  successful booting into the system again.
