Public bug reported:

After updating to Ubuntu 25.04 kernel 6.14.0-15, the boot splash screen
(Plymouth) no longer appears.
Instead, only verbose text boot messages are shown.

Reverting to kernel 6.14.0-13 restores the normal behavior, with the
Ubuntu logo and spinner during boot.

This issue seems to affect systems with Intel Integrated Graphics,
particularly Haswell generation (Xeon E3-1200 v3 / 4th Gen Core iGPU).

Steps to Reproduce:
--> Install Ubuntu 25.04 (Plucky) with kernel 6.14.0-13 (or earlier).
--> Update to kernel 6.14.0-15 through normal system updates.
--> Reboot.
--> Observe missing Plymouth splash; system shows verbose text boot instead.

Expected Result:
--> Ubuntu logo splash with spinner should appear normally during boot.

Actual Result:
--> Only black screen with text messages during boot.
--> No Plymouth logo or graphical splash.

Hardware Information:
--> CPU: Intel Xeon E3-1220 v3 (Haswell)
--> GPU: Intel Integrated Graphics (i915 driver)
--> Monitor resolution: 1600x900 (16:9)

Workaround:
--> Booting manually with previous kernel 6.14.0-13 restores the graphical
splash screen.
--> Setting GRUB to default to 6.14.0-13 avoids the problem temporarily.

Additional Notes:
--> Changing GRUB options (i915.modeset=1, GRUB_GFXPAYLOAD_LINUX=keep, quiet
splash) did not fix the issue.
--> Regenerating initramfs also did not fix the problem.
--> Kernel changelog indicates changes to DRM/Xe/BMG drivers, which may have
side effects on older Intel GPUs.
