I guess, this problem is not gone! The people are just creating other bug reports and ask-ubuntu-qestions because they did not find this one. I dig around and found a solution which seems to work for my laptop HP EliteBook 8440p (now running without an issue for 45min, whereas before it get frozen with the first 5min): https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=219432 After having added "intel_iommu=igfx_off" to the kernel start parameters in the GRUB configuration, it seems to work well now. I could live with that making it permanent (for my Ubuntu 22.04). But I tried to run Ubuntu 24.04 as live system and it get frozen too on the same laptop. It could be another issue, of course. But it is more likely, it is the same issue... I managed to switch to a text console before the freeze happened. The attached files were created in a text console as root and then transferred to a different computer in order to report the bug.
