Here is a bit more information (possibly evidence) I have a Windows 11 VM (fully updated) using qemu/kvm Host Ubuntu 24.04 kernel 6.8.0-52 - Mediatek 7921 Bluetooth can be passed to the Windows guest consistently Host Ubuntu 24.04 kernel 6.11.0-17 - Mediatek 7921 Bluetooth cannot be passed to the Windows guest at all Host Ubuntu 24.04 kernel 6.11.0-19 - Mediatek 7921 Bluetooth cannot be passed to the Windows guest at all
When I try to pass Bluetooth to the Windows guest using kernels 6.11.0-17 or 6.11.0-19, Virtual Machine Manager crashes. The dialogue box offers "Wait" or "Force Quit" - neither options work and Virtual Machine manager is frozen. REISUO or REISUB also fail. I have to use System Monitor to end processes and, then, power off ungracefully. Consequently, I have to run fsck from a live session. After power off, I detach the power cable and hold the power button for 30 seconds or more to see if Bluetooth returns. Sometimes, I need to do this 2 or 3 times. I am very reluctant to use Bluetooth with 6.11 kernels and Virtual Machine Manager for fear of causing irreparable damage. I can only conclude that mt7921 and kernels newer than 6.8.0-52 are unhappy partners. Whether it is the kernel or Mediatek firmware, I really don't know. Anyway, here's hoping that this info is relevant. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2100027 Title: Bluetooth failure on reboot - Kernel 6.11.0-17 - Mediatek 7921 Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Using kernel 6.11.0-17, Bluetooth works on first boot.
