Just reproduced on 6.11.0-19. Some additional details: - Both with `splash` and without, at first the screen is bright and the input is registered just fine - Also in both cases, after a couple of seconds the screen becomes momentarily black, and the old content is now displayed dimmed
Now, the behavior or `splash` is different from no-`splash`. Apart from keyboard input in the text field not being registered at all, the layout indicator that was previously showing "US" now shows nothing. But Ctrl+Alt+Del still works. When there's no `splash`, the input is possible but after the black screen flash the input starts at an earlier position, mangling the prompt a bit. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2091864 Title: Cannot enter luks password at boot after kernel 6.8.0-50 upgrade Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Upgraded Ubuntu 24.04 software, including kernel 6.8.0-50, after which upon booting the luks password couldn't be entered (dialog unresponsive). Was able to boot 6.8.0-49. Could boot 6.8.0-50 with quiet splash commented out - with text input. Added i915 (my video driver) to /etc/initramfs-tools/modules and updated initrd, after which could boot 6.8.0-50.
