I ended up purchasing a new computer, and then I re-installed Ubuntu
24.10, and then my various gnome plugins, and the issue seemed resolved.

Then I installed my various software tools and the issue - the inability
to resume from sleep with an external monitor connected - came back at
some point.

Given that this appears to be a conflict at the software level, I'm no
longer sure how to proceed. I don't think I have it in me to do another
clean install, and check after every single step until I find which
piece of software breaks suspend/resume.

Given that, do you have any suggestions for logs I can dump to figure
out what might be crashing? Also note that it now takes two restarts to
get my system back up again if I don't disconnect my external monitor
first. After the first restart, the grub seems to lose track of my OS or
something.

I do have some dmesg errors, but they seem to occur even when suspend/resume is
working correctly:

Title:
Ubuntu 24.10 Fails to Resume from Suspend

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Triaged

Bug description:
  **Summary:**
My Lenovo Legion Y545 running Ubuntu 24.10 fails to resume properly from
suspend.

  **System Details:**
  - **Laptop Model:** Lenovo Legion Y545
  - **OS:** Ubuntu 24.10
  - **Kernel Version:** 6.11.0-18-generic
  - **Display Server:** Wayland
  - **Graphics:** Intel UHD 630 / NVIDIA GTX 1650 (using `nvidia-driver-535`)

  **Steps to reproduce:**
  1. Put the laptop to sleep (via suspend)
  2. Attempt to wake it.
  3. Screen remains black, and requires hard shutdown to regain control.

  **Workaround**
  1. Turn off the external monitor via meta+P (and select built-in only)
  2. Suspend and resume works just fine.
