It looks like this has been fixed upstream. I will close it. If the problem still occurs, please reopen it.
** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/747187 Title: Kernel BUG at /build/buildd/linux-2.6.35/drivers/gpu/drm/i915/i915_gem.c:4224! Status in Linux: Fix Released Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Invalid Bug description: Computer won't turn screen on after blanking and doesn't respond to keyboard or mouse. After remote login, the dmesg shows "kernel BUG at /build/buildd/linux-2.6.35/drivers/gpu/drm/i915/i915_gem.c:4224!". Wakeups from screen blanks get more and more complicated (require switch to console and back to X) and finally end in this bug. However, this bug doesn't need X running it works in single user mode as well. I believe the system was under a relatively heavy load every time. This bug happens randomly, but happened twice in three days after switching back from mainline kernel. I was using mainline kernel for several weeks and nothing bad ever happened.
