See https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gdm3/+bug/1968929 The verification of the gdm update that was supposed to make Wayland the default option was not done correctly:
We can see that all comments between #37 and #45 mention that Xorg was still their default but that they now had the option to switch to "Ubuntu on Wayland". The verification test cases instead were meant to verify that the default was Wayland with an option to switch to "Ubuntu on Xorg". -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux-hwe-6.8 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2080498 Title: Default session type changed from Xorg to Wayland in some installs of 22.04 on Nvidia hybrids since kernel 6.8 Status in gdm3 package in Ubuntu: In Progress Status in linux-hwe-6.8 package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: [Summary] On HP ZBook Fury G11 platform preloaded with Ubuntu 22.04.
