You have been subscribed to a public bug: After reinstalling 20.04LTS from Live USB due to complete loss of available memory on boot/root partition I attempted to reinstall former apps/packages using saved: sources.list.d folder and sources.list file with apt update/upgrade commands. It tried to remove the root kernal for some reason during this process and I aborted its removal when it asked if I was sureI wanted to remove the root kernal.
I initiated: sudo apt --fix-broken install Everything seemed to go ok with no error messages: ed@ed-G41MT-S2PT:~$ sudo apt --fix-broken install Reading package lists...
