Triggered with " asus_wmi: Unknown key code 0xcf" Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Expired Bug description: Since upgrading my laptop (Asus X405UA) to lunar this problem started, before there were no issues (using the laptop already 5 years with every Ubuntu release). I have this problem with chargers that are getting old and sometimes have a short moment of disconnect. I can see this e.g. also happening in windows. The system stops "Charging" and it states the charger is disconnected and will be "Not Charging". This at itself is not a major issue except that it brings itself in some kind of loop between these states. Because of this continuous charging/discharging behavior, the battery starts to drain until it is completely empty and the laptop has no energy left and turns off. If I check dmesg, I see this message for every event it creates a line with: asus_wmi: Unknown key code 0xcf I was able to resolve the issue with the command: sudo modprobe -r asus_wmi --remove-holders In dmesg I see: ACPI: battery: extension unregistered: ASUS Battery Extension asus_wmi: ASUS WMI generic driver unloaded and the issue stopped: it then doesn't bring itself into this charging/discharging loop anymore that drains the battery To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/2029902/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~kernel-packages Post to : kernel-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~kernel-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
