Tested again with Mantic daily-preinstall from 31-Aug: the problem is still there.
Tested the 23.04 image ( https://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/23.04/release/ubuntu-23.04-preinstalled- server-riscv64+visionfive2.img.xz ) using the same SD card and the same VisionFive2 board.
