Title:
  normal boot fails

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
Normal boot prints a few lines to console, the last looking a bit red
herring-ish concerning amdgpu, then hangs without any real indication
why. It doesn't get to the point that it switches to graphical mode
or asks for LUKS unlock pass phrase.

If I boot in recovery mode and immediately choose "continue boot" from
the menu that appears, however, the machine appears to come up
  correctly.
