Caused a lot of upstream discussion with the end result that the raspi people disabled the warning in their kernel. We do the same on our newer kernels so lets backport that fix to 4.15. [Regression Potential] Changes are confined to the spidev module and only silence a warning. No negative side-effects are expected.
