The purple screen at the beginning displayed correctly, then the laptop screen went blank. Some seconds later I heard the startup sound, but the screen was still black. Holding the laptop in an angle, I can notice there is something being displayed on the screen, such as the panel, and I can even open dialog boxes by clicking at random, but they look only as faint darker spots on the screen. It seems to me that the screen brightness is set to minimum, but the brightness controls won't work. The problem persists in Oneiric Beta 2. No display problems with Maverick. I have a PackardBell Butterfly XS I made lspci | grep VGA in the terminal and got this: 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 4 Series Chipset Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 07) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/865557/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~kernel-packages Post to : kernel-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~kernel-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
