@Arthur, there is no 'kernel-package' in 'Ubuntu 22'

What is Ubuntu 22 anyway? Ubuntu 22.04 which has been released or Ubuntu
22.10 which is currently in development? I'm reassigning this bug report
to the 'linux' package which is the correct package for the linux
kernel.

Please provide any additional information that is requested from you.

** Package changed: ubuntu => linux (Ubuntu)

** Changed in: kernel-package (Ubuntu)
       Status: New => Invalid

Title:
Unable to use the mouse or trackpad in Ubuntu 22

Status in kernel-package package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid
Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
While booted from an USB stick, I'm able to try Ubuntu 22 without any
issues on an Alienware X17 R1 laptop. After booting from a freshly
installed copy of Ubuntu 22 the mouse and trackpad stop responding
after a minute or so. Without the ability to use the mouse or trackpad
to navigate the screen, I'm forced to use the power button to power
  off the system.

  Dell Alienware X17 R1 with 64Gb RAM, Nvidia 3080 graphics. Ubuntu 22
installed on an external hard drive.
