This happens on 21.04 also. The monitors go to sleep then immediately wake back up, regardless of whether they were sleeping from an idle timeout or a manual screen lock (win-L)
Nothing much seems to appear in syslog or journalctl about this. It happens both in Wayland and X11. What other information is needed? What application or package is responsible for sleeping the display? How can we get this fixed? ** Tags added: hirsute -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1905142 Title: [amdgpu] When entering sleep mode the monitors turn off then immediately turn back on Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: every time that happens the following message is shown in syslog: /usr/libexec/gdm-x-session[3330]: (EE) AMDGPU(0): drmmode_do_crtc_dpms cannot get last vblank counter ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 20.10 Package: xorg 1:7.7+19ubuntu15 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 5.8.0-30.32-generic 5.8.17 Uname: Linux 5.8.0-30-generic x86_64 .tmp.unity_support_test.0: ApportVersion: 2.20.11-0ubuntu50.2 Architecture: amd64 BootLog: CasperMD5CheckResult: skip CompizPlugins: No value set for `/apps/compiz-1/general/screen0/options/active_plugins' CompositorRunning: None CurrentDesktop: ubuntu:GNOME Date: Sat Nov 21 18:38:27 2020 DistUpgraded: 2020-11-18 01:07:32,653 ERROR got error from PostInstallScript ./xorg_fix_proprietary.py (g-exec-error-quark: Failed to execute child process “./xorg_fix_proprietary.py” (No such file or directory) (8)) DistroCodename: groovy DistroVariant: ubuntu ExtraDebuggingInterest: Yes, including running git bisection searches GraphicsCard: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.
