-- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1938364 Title: kernel oops Status in linux package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: I have been having repeated trouble on a Lenovo T440p, generally happening when the screen locks after timeout and I am then unable to get back into the machine with a frozen screen. This time around, it appeared that chrome started going insane with a load average of 25 on a 2 core machine. I tried to kill -9 the processes with no success. Other programs would run but the load averaged remained pinned at 25. In the log there is a kernel oops as well as the kernel claiming it is tainted without cause. pam@thinkpad3:~/bug/lockups$ lsb_release -rd Description: Ubuntu 18.04.5 LTS Release: 18.04 pam@thinkpad3:~/bug/lockups$ apt-cache policy linux-image-4.15.0-151-generic linux-image-4.15.0-151-generic: Installed: 4.15.0-151.157 Candidate: 4.15.0-151.157 Version table: *** 4.15.0-151.157 500 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu bionic-updates/main amd64 Packages 500 http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu bionic-security/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 18.04 Package: linux-image-4.15.0-151-generic 4.15.0-151.157 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.15.0-151.157-generic 4.15.18 Uname: Linux 4.15.0-151-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.20.9-0ubuntu7.24 Architecture: amd64 AudioDevicesInUse: USER PID ACCESS COMMAND /dev/snd/controlC0: pam 1687 F.... pulseaudio /dev/snd/controlC1: pam 1687 F.... pulseaudio CurrentDesktop: ubuntu:GNOME Date: Wed Jul 28 22:39:29 2021 HibernationDevice: RESUME=none InstallationDate: Installed on 2018-12-01 (970 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS "Bionic Beaver" - Release amd64 (20180725) MachineType: LENOVO 20AN006DUS ProcEnviron: TERM=xterm-256color PATH=(custom, no user) XDG_RUNTIME_DIR=<set> LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash ProcFB: 0 inteldrmfb ProcKernelCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-4.15.0-151-generic root=/dev/mapper/ubuntu--vg-root ro vt.handoff=1 RelatedPackageVersions: linux-restricted-modules-4.15.0-151-generic N/A linux-backports-modules-4.15.0-151-generic N/A linux-firmware 1.173.20 SourcePackage: linux UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) dmi.bios.date: 04/20/2020 dmi.bios.vendor: LENOVO dmi.bios.version: GLETA1WW (2.55 ) dmi.board.asset.tag: Not Available dmi.board.name: 20AN006DUS dmi.board.vendor: LENOVO dmi.board.version: 0B98401 WIN dmi.chassis.asset.tag: No Asset Information dmi.chassis.type: 10 dmi.chassis.vendor: LENOVO dmi.chassis.version: Not Available dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnLENOVO:bvrGLETA1WW(2.55):bd04/20/2020:svnLENOVO:pn20AN006DUS:pvrThinkPadT440p:rvnLENOVO:rn20AN006DUS:rvr0B98401WIN:cvnLENOVO:ct10:cvrNotAvailable: dmi.product.family: ThinkPad T440p dmi.product.name: 20AN006DUS dmi.product.version: ThinkPad T440p dmi.sys.vendor: LENOVO To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1938364/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~kernel-packages Post to : kernel-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~kernel-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
