The package manager always installs grub-pc and removes grub-efi which is required to boot from EFI-based system (mine is actually UEFI). The ubuntu installer can't identify EFI-based systems. Also, even after reinstalling grub-efi, grub doesn't show up, it automaticly boots to ubuntu (actually pretty slowly), and windows cannot be identified by grub even by doing: sudo update-grub or sudo update-grub3 ProblemType: KernelOops DistroRelease: Ubuntu 11.04 Package: linux-image-2.6.38-8-generic 2.6.38-8.42 Regression: No Reproducible: No ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.38-8.42-generic 2.6.38.2 Uname: Linux 2.6.38-8-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia AlsaVersion: Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 1.0.23.
