Public bug reported: SRU Justification
Impact: The upstream process for stable tree updates is quite similar in scope to the Ubuntu SRU process, e.g., each patch has to demonstrably fix a bug, and each patch is vetted by upstream by originating either directly from a mainline/stable Linux tree or a minimally backported form of that patch. The following upstream stable patches should be included in the Ubuntu kernel: v4.4.261 upstream stable release from git://git.kernel.org/ futex: fix irq self-deadlock and satisfy assertion futex: fix spin_lock() / spin_unlock_irq() imbalance ALSA: ctxfi: cthw20k2: fix mask on conf to allow 4 bits rsxx: Return -EFAULT if copy_to_user() fails dm table: fix iterate_devices based device capability checks platform/x86: acer-wmi: Add new force_caps module parameter PCI: Add function 1 DMA alias quirk for Marvell 9215 SATA controller Linux 4.4.261 UBUNTU: upstream stable to v4.4.261 ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Invalid ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu Xenial) Importance: Medium Assignee: Kamal Mostafa (kamalmostafa) Status: In Progress ** Tags: kernel-stable-tracking-bug ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: New => Confirmed ** Tags added: kernel-stable-tracking-bug ** Also affects: linux (Ubuntu Xenial) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu Xenial) Status: New => In Progress ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu Xenial) Importance: Undecided => Medium ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu Xenial) Assignee: (unassigned) => Kamal Mostafa (kamalmostafa) ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Invalid ** Description changed: + SRU Justification - SRU Justification + Impact: + The upstream process for stable tree updates is quite similar + in scope to the Ubuntu SRU process, e.g., each patch has to + demonstrably fix a bug, and each patch is vetted by upstream + by originating either directly from a mainline/stable Linux tree or + a minimally backported form of that patch.
