Title:
Lenovo X1 Extreme 2nd gen fails to suspend, fan running / battery
  drains

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
My ThinkPad X1 extreme seems unable to suspend properly in groovy.
The screen goes dark and the keyboard LEDs suggest it's gone to sleep,
but after transporting it in my laptop bag, the laptop was hot with
the fan running full speed, and the battery had almost completely
  drained after ~1.5h.

This problem is reproducible - it happened at least once before but
last time I allowed for the possibility it was a userspace problem
with the system failing to actually get to the point of suspending.
This time I made sure the laptop was "suspended" before I closed the
lid and put it in my bag, and also have checked the logs afterwards.

I was also not able to get the laptop to resume, in this case, but had
  to do a hard reset.

  From journalctl -b -1:

Jan 19 09:09:45 homer systemd[1]: Reached target Sleep.
  Jan 19 09:09:45 homer systemd[1]: Starting Suspend...
  Jan 19 09:09:45 homer systemd-sleep[413438]: Suspending system...
Jan 19 09:09:45 homer kernel: PM: suspend entry (deep)

That's the end of the log file.
