Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v3.13 kernel[0].
If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'. If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'. If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'. Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as "Confirmed". Thanks in advance. I have a gigabit lan and when uploading to the NAS (Ubuntu server) the speed is very low - approx 130megabites/s. This is not present in the previous kernel 3.11.0-12-generic. I tested this repeatedly several times and also I did a fresh install of the ubuntu 13.10 - still the same behavior. I tested with copying large files to mounted nfs share and also with iperf. Interesting is that after booting Ubuntu 13.10 with kernel 3.11.0-15-generic, the upload speed is fine for a while, then it drops down and remains low. See the iperf log (first run immediatelly after boot is fine - upload speed is 932Mbits/s, then second run 439Mbits/s and then only approx 130Mbits/s ). Note that when testing with kernel 3.11.0-12-generic iperf will give allways ~930Mbits/s. ygzo@ygzo-desktop:~$ iperf -c 192.168.1.106 -r ------------------------------------------------------------ Server listening on TCP port 5001 TCP window size: 85.3 KByte (default) ------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------ Client connecting to 192.168.1.106, TCP port 5001 TCP window size: 110 KByte (default) ------------------------------------------------------------ [ 5] local 192.168.1.181 port 40490 connected with 192.168.1.106 port 5001 [ ID] Interval Transfer Bandwidth [ 5] 0.0-10.0 sec 1.09 GBytes 932 Mbits/sec [ 4] local 192.168.1.181 port 5001 connected with 192.168.1.106 port 34822 [ 4] 0.0-10.0 sec 508 MBytes 426 Mbits/sec ygzo@ygzo-desktop:~$ iperf -c 192.168.1.106 -r ------------------------------------------------------------ Server listening on TCP port 5001 TCP window size: 85.3 KByte (default) ------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------ Client connecting to 192.168.1.106, TCP port 5001 TCP window size: 68.6 KByte (default) ------------------------------------------------------------ [ 5] local 192.168.1.181 port 40493 connected with 192.168.1.106 port 5001 [ ID] Interval Transfer Bandwidth [ 5] 0.0-10.0 sec 524 MBytes 439 Mbits/sec [ 4] local 192.168.1.181 port 5001 connected with 192.168.1.106 port 34825 [ 4] 0.0-10.0 sec 500 MBytes 419 Mbits/sec ygzo@ygzo-desktop:~$ iperf -c 192.168.1.106 -r ------------------------------------------------------------ Server listening on TCP port 5001 TCP window size: 85.3 KByte (default) ------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------ Client connecting to 192.168.1.106, TCP port 5001 TCP window size: 64.0 KByte (default) ------------------------------------------------------------ [ 5] local 192.168.1.181 port 40494 connected with 192.168.1.106 port 5001 [ ID] Interval Transfer Bandwidth [ 5] 0.0-10.0 sec 160 MBytes 134 Mbits/sec [ 4] local 192.168.1.181 port 5001 connected with 192.168.1.106 port 34826 [ 4] 0.0-10.0 sec 498 MBytes 418 Mbits/sec ygzo@ygzo-desktop:~$ iperf -c 192.168.1.106 -r ------------------------------------------------------------ Server listening on TCP port 5001 TCP window size: 85.3 KByte (default) ------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------ Client connecting to 192.168.1.106, TCP port 5001 TCP window size: 64.0 KByte (default) ------------------------------------------------------------ [ 5] local 192.168.1.181 port 40495 connected with 192.168.1.106 port 5001 [ ID] Interval Transfer Bandwidth [ 5] 0.0-10.0 sec 137 MBytes 115 Mbits/sec [ 4] local 192.168.1.181 port 5001 connected with 192.168.1.106 port 34828 [ 4] 0.0-10.0 sec 499 MBytes 418 Mbits/sec ygzo@ygzo-desktop:~$ iperf -c 192.168.1.106 -r ------------------------------------------------------------ Server listening on TCP port 5001 TCP window size: 85.3 KByte (default) ------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------ Client connecting to 192.168.1.106, TCP port 5001 TCP window size: 68.6 KByte (default) ------------------------------------------------------------ [ 5] local 192.168.1.181 port 40583 connected with 192.168.1.106 port 5001 [ ID] Interval Transfer Bandwidth [ 5] 0.0-10.0 sec 159 MBytes 134 Mbits/sec [ 4] local 192.168.1.181 port 5001 connected with 192.168.1.106 port 34846 [ 4] 0.0-10.0 sec 500 MBytes 419 Mbits/sec ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 13.10 Package: linux-image-3.11.0-15-generic 3.11.0-15.25 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.11.0-15.25-generic 3.11.10 Uname: Linux 3.11.0-15-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.12.5-0ubuntu2.2 Architecture: amd64 AudioDevicesInUse: USER PID ACCESS COMMAND /dev/snd/controlC0: ygzo 1915 F.... pulseaudio CurrentDmesg: [ 28.730089] Please check user daemon is running.
