Do you have Ubuntu installed on this machine, so you can test some other kernel versions? If so, would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v3.13 kernel[0].
If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'. If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'. If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'. Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as "Confirmed". Thanks in advance. Running tcpdump on the affected machine, I can see packets coming in, I can see the DHCP packets going out, but I can't see any response to these DHCP packets. So I suspect the packets going out aren't getting out or are being corrupted. Rebooting the machine to Ubuntu 12.04, and everything works fine again. As per old red hat bug, I tried apic=off, this didn't help. lspci says: 00:19.0 Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation 82566DM-2 Gigabit Network Connection (rev 02) Unfortunately, without network access, I cannot run ubuntu-bug, as described in guidelines.
