Public bug reported: [Impact] Atari partition tables have very broad specifications, and can spontaneously show up on uncleared disks with "garbage" data. There have been reports of misinterpreted AHDI partition tables before (see [0] and [1]), usually as an unintended side-effect of using non-zeroed disks. Users of this specific partition scheme are unlikely to be on AWS instances, so we should disable them.

Considering Atari hardware hasn't been produced in a long time, and are unlikely to be used in AWS instances, the regression potential should be very low. ** Affects: linux-aws (Ubuntu) Importance: High Status: Confirmed ** Affects: linux-aws (Ubuntu Xenial) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: linux-aws (Ubuntu Bionic) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: linux-aws (Ubuntu Focal) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: linux-aws (Ubuntu Groovy) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: linux-aws (Ubuntu Hirsute) Importance: High Status: Confirmed ** Tags: sts ** Also affects: linux-aws (Ubuntu Hirsute) Importance: High Status: Confirmed ** Also affects: linux-aws (Ubuntu Bionic) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: linux-aws (Ubuntu Xenial) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: linux-aws (Ubuntu Focal) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: linux-aws (Ubuntu Groovy) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux-aws in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1908264 Title: Disable Atari partition support for linux-aws Status in linux-aws package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in linux-aws source package in Xenial: New Status in linux-aws source package in Bionic: New Status in linux-aws source package in Focal: New Status in linux-aws source package in Groovy: New Status in linux-aws source package in Hirsute: Confirmed Bug description: [Impact] Atari partition tables have very broad specifications, and can spontaneously show up on uncleared disks with "garbage" data.
