This issue was present in prior releases too. I faced it in Quantal and then Saucy too. The original bug report is here - https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1082418 The reporter of that bug is no longer active to perform tests and since the bug affects me too, I was trying to provide reports/logs/etc. Although the manufacturer of both the systems is Fujitsu, my laptop model is different from the original bug reporter's and it was suggested to me that reporting a new bug would be better.

Unfortunately Fujitsu doesn't provide a BIOS flash utility for Linux/Ubuntu. It is to be noted that installed Windows in EFI mode on the same system does not clear out firmware access but just adds the 'Windows Boot Loader' entry at the top of the boot sequence.
