Title:
New kernel 5.3 doesn't recognize older NVIDIA graphics card

Status in Ubuntu MATE:
  Invalid
Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  Updated U-Mate 18.04.3 which installed kernel 5.3.0. 1920x1080
monitor went into 800x600 resolution and unable to fix. Rebooted to
5.0.0 through grub and everything was back to normal. I've seen other
forums (Ask Ubuntu, Linux Mint) that are reporting the same thing.

I posted on the community forum and was asked to submit a bug report:

  https://ubuntu-mate.community/t/18-04-3-update-caused-problems-with-
  display-nvidia/20929/2

It seems to be an Ubuntu problem with the 390 driver.

  Graphics Card: Nvidia Quadro 600.

I don't have problems with the new kernel on my other machines with
  AMD or Intel integrated graphics.
