Craig Olsen, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com /daily-live/current/ .
If it remains an issue, could you please provide the information following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingKernelBoot ? ** Tags added: bios-outdated-v1.03 ** Package changed: xorg (Ubuntu) => linux (Ubuntu) ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Medium ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1096391 Title: I was stuck in debug mode Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Ubuntu was not loading regular upon startup or shutdown, machine language in debug mode kept scrolling ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.10 Package: xorg 1:7.7+1ubuntu4 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.5.0-21.32-generic 3.5.7.1 Uname: Linux 3.5.0-21-generic x86_64 .tmp.unity.support.test.0: ApportVersion: 2.6.1-0ubuntu9 Architecture: amd64 CompizPlugins: No value set for `/apps/compiz-1/general/screen0/options/active_plugins' CompositorRunning: compiz Date: Sat Jan 5 11:14:22 2013 DistUpgraded: Fresh install DistroCodename: quantal DistroVariant: ubuntu DkmsStatus: virtualbox, 4.1.18: added GraphicsCard: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI RS690M [Radeon X1200 Series] [1002:791f] (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) Subsystem: Gateway 2000 Device [107b:0185] InstallationDate: Installed on 2012-12-05 (30 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 12.10 "Quantal Quetzal" - Release amd64 (20121017.5) MachineType: eMachines eMachines D620 MarkForUpload: True ProcEnviron: TERM=unknown PATH=(custom, no user) LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash ProcKernelCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-3.5.0-21-generic root=UUID=a4b706c9-23e3-48db-81eb-ef09ca41bb07 ro splash quiet plymouth:debug=1 SourcePackage: xorg UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) dmi.bios.date: 09/03/2008 dmi.bios.vendor: Phoenix Technologies LTD dmi.bios.version: V1.01 dmi.board.name: eMachines D620 dmi.board.vendor: eMachines dmi.board.version: Rev dmi.chassis.asset.tag: None dmi.chassis.type: 1 dmi.chassis.vendor: eMachines dmi.chassis.version: None dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnPhoenixTechnologiesLTD:bvrV1.01:bd09/03/2008:svneMachines:pneMachinesD620:pvr0100:rvneMachines:rneMachinesD620:rvrRev:cvneMachines:ct1:cvrNone: dmi.product.name: eMachines D620 dmi.product.version: 0100 dmi.sys.vendor: eMachines version.compiz: compiz 1:0.9.8.6-0ubuntu1 version.ia32-libs: ia32-libs N/A version.libdrm2: libdrm2 2.4.39-0ubuntu1 version.libgl1-mesa-dri: libgl1-mesa-dri 9.0-0ubuntu1 version.libgl1-mesa-dri-experimental: libgl1-mesa-dri-experimental N/A version.libgl1-mesa-glx: libgl1-mesa-glx 9.0-0ubuntu1 version.xserver-xorg-core: xserver-xorg-core 2:1.13.0-0ubuntu6.1 version.xserver-xorg-input-evdev: xserver-xorg-input-evdev 1:2.7.3-0ubuntu2 version.xserver-xorg-video-ati: xserver-xorg-video-ati 1:6.99.99~git20120913.8637f772-0ubuntu1 version.xserver-xorg-video-intel: xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.20.9-0ubuntu2 version.xserver-xorg-video-nouveau: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau 1:1.0.2-0ubuntu3 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1096391/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~kernel-packages Post to : kernel-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~kernel-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
