I then installed Xubuntu 16.04 LTS 64bit and it boots but it takes quite a long time. DMESG shows a number of error messages starting at 12 seconds, its output file is attached. The errors seem to relate to the graphics which is recognized as i915 but may be actually i955 related with the T9300 CPU that I use. The Lifebook itsself is OK as the original XP 32bit runs without any problem. --- ApportVersion: 2.20.1-0ubuntu2.19 Architecture: amd64 AudioDevicesInUse: USER PID ACCESS COMMAND /dev/snd/controlC0: guenter 1339 F.... pulseaudio DistroRelease: Ubuntu 16.04 HibernationDevice: RESUME=UUID=b4d1b02c-67e6-47d4-a407-42c52c4703d2 InstallationDate: Installed on 2019-10-19 (2 days ago) InstallationMedia: Xubuntu 16.04.3 LTS "Xenial Xerus" - Release amd64 (20170801) MachineType: FUJITSU SIEMENS LIFEBOOK E8310 Package: linux (not installed) ProcEnviron: LANGUAGE=de_DE TERM=xterm PATH=(custom, no user) LANG=de_DE.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash ProcFB: 0 inteldrmfb ProcKernelCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-4.15.0-65-generic root=UUID=2a7f1443-a47f-44f3-b55c-2c7566879d06 ro quiet splash vt.handoff=7 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.15.0-65.74~16.04.1-generic 4.15.18 PulseList: Error: command ['pacmd', 'list'] failed with exit code 1: Home directory not accessible: Permission denied No PulseAudio daemon running, or not running as session daemon.
