This is a desktop with a 03:00.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8111/8168/8411 PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet Controller (rev 06) ethernet device. The Enable Networking is unchecked but "enabling networking" doesn't do anything and I see nothing relevant in the dmesg system log. It worked with previous versions of ubuntu from 12.04 to 13.04 without issues. So I'm figuring there is a bug somewhere that was introduced.
