Title: No HDD parking on shutdown Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: This text is copied from the Github report I made instances ago. My external HDD is not parker/spundown as the system shutsdown. ##### Expected Behavior I select "Shutdown" and the system parks the external hdd normally. ##### Current Behavior I select "Shutdown" and it abruptly shuts the system down seconds thereafter, not even parking/spinning the hdd down. This ruins the disc. ##### Possible Solution Perhaps change the shutdown scripts to park all the discs first? umount /media/<user>/* umount /dev/sd* hdparm -y /dev/sd* ##### Steps to Reproduce (for bugs) 1. Press super 2. Shutdown 3. wait 4. hear the fast SQUEAK from the HDD. ##### Context This ruins the hdd. Also, it is my main hdd (for work data) and I typically shut the system down right after I finish using it. ##### System Information * Distribution & Version: Lubuntu 18.04 (as it came) --- ProblemType: Bug ApportVersion: 2.20.10-0ubuntu27.1 Architecture: amd64 AudioDevicesInUse: USER PID ACCESS COMMAND /dev/snd/controlC0: kingrhodes 1494 F.... pulseaudio CurrentDesktop: LXQt DistroRelease: Ubuntu 19.04 InstallationDate: Installed on 2019-08-13 (62 days ago) InstallationMedia: Lubuntu 19.04 "Disco Dingo" - Release amd64 (20190416) MachineType: TOSHIBA SATELLITE C55-A-121 Package: linux (not installed) ProcFB: 0 inteldrmfb ProcKernelCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-5.0.0-31-generic root=UUID=734ebfa7-9291-4b5a-a590-3454b8b040a2 ro quiet splash vt.handoff=1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 5.0.0-31.33-generic 5.0.21 RelatedPackageVersions: linux-restricted-modules-5.0.0-31-generic N/A linux-backports-modules-5.0.0-31-generic N/A linux-firmware 1.178.3 RfKill: 0: phy0: Wireless LAN Soft blocked: no Hard blocked: no Tags: disco Uname: Linux 5.0.0-31-generic x86_64 UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) UserGroups: adm cdrom dip lpadmin plugdev sudo _MarkForUpload: True dmi.bios.date: 04/22/2013 dmi.bios.vendor: Insyde Corp. dmi.bios.version: 1.00 dmi.board.asset.tag: Type2 - Board Asset Tag dmi.board.name: PT10F dmi.board.vendor: Intel dmi.board.version: Type2 - Board Version dmi.chassis.asset.tag: No Asset Tag dmi.chassis.type: 10 dmi.chassis.vendor: OEM Chassis Manufacturer dmi.chassis.version: OEM Chassis Version dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnInsydeCorp.:bvr1.00:bd04/22/2013:svnTOSHIBA:pnSATELLITEC55-A-121:pvrPSCGAE-00E00NEP:rvnIntel:rnPT10F:rvrType2-BoardVersion:cvnOEMChassisManufacturer:ct10:cvrOEMChassisVersion: dmi.product.family: Type1Family dmi.product.name: SATELLITE C55-A-121 dmi.product.sku: PSCGAE dmi.product.version: PSCGAE-00E00NEP dmi.sys.vendor: TOSHIBA To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1844942/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~kernel-packages Post to : kernel-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~kernel-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
