Title:
Laptop fan turns off and then stays off

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Won't Fix

Bug description:
  Ubuntu Hardy 8.04 2.6.25-15-generic

When I boot up my laptop the fan is running and the temperature is low
(less than 40). After a while the temperature rises to about 55 and
the fan turns off, the temp continues to rise until the CPU throttles
down but the fan never comes on again.

I have the the noapic option set in menu.lst.

  My /proc/acpi/thermal_zone/THRM/trip_points is set as:

  critical (S5): 105 C
  passive: 79 C: tc1=3 tc2=1 tsp=80 devices=CPU0
  active[0]: 65 C: devices=FAN0
  active[1]: 55 C: devices=FAN1

This was not an issue for me in 7.10.
