external mic broken in hardy since kernels 2.6.24.11

Bug description:
Hi,
On upgrading to the 2.6.24.12 kernel (and 2.6.24.14) my external
microphone is not working. When I use skype the person I try to talk
to simply can't hear me.
If I boot with the 2.6.24.11 kernel everything is fine.
This is on a Dell XPS1330M.
Can I supply any additional data to help debug this?
