On a Dell Inspiron 8200 with Nvidia NV17 (64MB) graphics, I encountered the same problem trying to boot Ubuntu or Lubuntu Saucy (13.10) Live discs.
Entering 'help' at the boot: prompt produced a special boot menu, but below the menu there was an option to simply press Enter to boot. Doing that resulted in booting to the Live desktop *without* the usual two menu screens where I choose my Language and then choose to Try *buntu Without Installing. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/659253 Title: maverick live cd won't boot Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Won't Fix Bug description: The live cd for the Maverick release won't boot. Instead it just shows the following message: "graphics initialization failed Error setting up gfxboot boot:" Hitting enter at this point simply brings up the message "Loading bootlogo..." briefly only to go back to the previous message. The machine is an Intel Pentium M --Centrino laptop. The cd boots correctly in other pcs --checked media successfully.
