Brightness keys (if not implemented in hardware directly) need to be known and mapped by the kernel.
Please: 1. Tell us the exact laptop model. 2. Run: sudo apt install evtest 3. Run: sudo evtest 4. Select your keyboard and then tap the Fn+brightness keys. 5. Copy and paste what you see in the evtest output. ** Tags added: nvidia ** Package changed: gnome-shell (Ubuntu) => linux (Ubuntu) ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1822665 Title: Brightness can't be changed from keyboard Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Brightness level can't be changed from keyboard with the Fn key and the corresponding designated key.
