Public bug reported: Running 18.04 off a boot usb stick works flawlessly, however after a clean install the login screen is very laggy and once I enter my password the screen resolution is all messed up and unreadable.
If I reboot and hold down shift to get the Grub menu and choose Advanced then recovery mode and then without altering anything I choose resume from the recovery menu and the login screen works perfectly. All system updates are done.
