Tis bug is quite dangerous because the PC is NOT in suspend mode : it generate a lot of heat, and thus closing the lid and putting the laptop in a bag may result in dangerous overheat leading irremediable to hardware failure. 1) #138256 is old (2007) and fix is released, when this is a bug I did not have under 9.04 and have under 9.10 2) Putting the following in xorg.conf does not help Section "Device" ... <other options here> ... Option "ForceEnablePipeA" "true" EndSection Maybe the solution 2 works if there is something else than xorg.conf where to put this since a few Ubuntu release xorg.conf is minimalistic. I believe this bug is very severe.
