After updating the kernel to 2.6.32-21, my IBM Thinkpad X40 became unusable. It shows the usual purple progress bar (albeit in 800x600 resolution, it is usually shown in 1024x768) when booting, and then goes all black. There is no hard drive activity either, and i cannot get to the console. When i from a live cd changed grub.cfg to show a menu, i managed to boot with the old 2.6.32-19, and everything is fine again. 2.6.32-21 works in recovery mode (with vesa driver). Xorg.0.log contains these warnings when on 2.6.32-21: (WW) Open ACPI failed (/var/run/acpid.socket) (Connection refused) WORKAROUND: i915.modeset=1 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/570892/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~kernel-packages Post to : kernel-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~kernel-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
