Thank you for your work. Unfortunately (or fortunately), I changed the machine since, so I can not make a statement about this issue anymore. I run now Ubuntu 12.04 (LTS supporter, I like stability) on a Dell Inspiron that is based on Intel® Core™2 Duo CPU P7450 @ 2.13GHz × 2 and there is no issue whatsoever.
