J.P.Casainho, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ .
If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report: apport-collect -p linux <replace-with-bug-number> Also, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available (not the daily folder) following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags: kernel-fixed-upstream kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested. For example: kernel-fixed-upstream-v3.12 This can be done by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon next to the word Tags located at the bottom of the bug description. As well, please remove the tag: needs-upstream-testing If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags: kernel-bug-exists-upstream kernel-bug-exists-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER As well, please remove the tag: needs-upstream-testing Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results. Thank you for your understanding. ** Tags added: latest-bios-1.12 ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Medium ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Triaged => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/872895 Title: Acer AO522 brigtness level keys wrongly working Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: When I change LCD backlight value using Fn + left/right keys, the backlight change in 3 steps each time where it should increase/decrease at 1 step. NOTE: This bug just happens when I used OpenSource ATI video drivers. If I use proprietary there is no bug. Max value is: root@cas-netbook:/home/cas# cat /sys/class/backlight/acpi_video0/max_brightness 9 Adjusting to lowest using keyboard and then starting increasing, I get: root@cas-netbook:/home/cas# cat /sys/class/backlight/acpi_video0/brightness 0 root@cas-netbook:/home/cas# cat /sys/class/backlight/acpi_video0/brightness 3 root@cas-netbook:/home/cas# cat /sys/class/backlight/acpi_video0/brightness 6 root@cas-netbook:/home/cas# cat /sys/class/backlight/acpi_video0/brightness 9 If I continue to increase with keyboard, the brightness value don't increase more then value 9. And, If I echo value 1 to brightness, increasing with keyboard, I cat the brightness and I get value 4, instead value 3 if brightness started with value 0. I simple don't get any event when I use the brightness key combination: Fn + arrow left/right. Here is an example of what I got: root@cas-netbook:/home/cas# input-events 4 /dev/input/event4 bustype : BUS_I8042 vendor : 0x1 product : 0x1 version : 43841 name : "AT Translated Set 2 keyboard" phys : "isa0060/serio0/input0" bits ev : EV_SYN EV_KEY EV_MSC EV_LED EV_REP waiting for events 09:56:29.503685: EV_MSC MSC_SCAN 28 09:56:29.503705: EV_KEY KEY_ENTER (0x1c) released 09:56:29.503707: EV_SYN code=0 value=0 09:56:31.923075: EV_MSC MSC_SCAN 205 09:56:31.923095: EV_KEY KEY_RIGHT (0x6a) pressed 09:56:31.923097: EV_SYN code=0 value=0 ^[[C09:56:31.994063: EV_MSC MSC_SCAN 205 09:56:31.994081: EV_KEY KEY_RIGHT (0x6a) released 09:56:31.994083: EV_SYN code=0 value=0 09:56:32.704639: EV_MSC MSC_SCAN 203 09:56:32.704660: EV_KEY KEY_LEFT (0x69) pressed 09:56:32.704663: EV_SYN code=0 value=0 ^[[D09:56:32.812767: EV_MSC MSC_SCAN 203 09:56:32.812787: EV_KEY KEY_LEFT (0x69) released 09:56:32.812789: EV_SYN code=0 value=0 timeout, quitting And ACPI LISTEN: root@cas-netbook:/home/cas# acpi_listen video LCD 00000086 00000000 video LCD 00000087 00000000 NOTE: Acer AO522 have an embedded controller.
