Hello, I've had the same issues on a Dell Latitude 7480 running ubuntu 16.04. I've made some recent updates last week and the system started to randomly freeze. I've done the same modifications as above, replacing this into the grub :
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash intel_idle.max_cstate=1" Now the system is stable again. Cheers -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1777311 Title: System freezes randomly Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Expired Bug description: System freezes randomly on a daily basis. First the mouse pointer actions are getting slow for a few seconds and after that the screen freezes. Various SysCtl key combinations I found on the net do not work. Switching to a console does not work. Remote login via SSH is not possible. The only way to get the system working again is a hard reboot. I did not find valueable information in the log files indicating what wents wrong here.
