Without additional parameters, the boot process would hang (blank screen) where disks are normally mounted. After reaching the blank screen, it would not respond to Ctrl+Alt+Del. Hard reset was required. If I passed iommu=off or nomodeset as boot parameters, it would boot with xen. Booting without xen also worked normally. linux-image-3.11.0-12-generic continues to work with xen and iommu enabled without additional boot parameters. I have attached xen's dmesg under linux-image-3.11.0-12-generic in case it is of interest.
