Hi Johannes, This bug fix has been applied to Artful and Xenial in addition to Bionic because it has been identified during triage that the older series also needed the fix. If you have only a Bionic install available it would be enough to verify the fix only with that series.

The kernel itself doesn't have support for this touchpad yet. However, the patch to get this working is trivial. Since people start being affected by this, this patch is being sent as a SAUCE patch until it lands upstream. The upstream bug at the Kernel project, including the patch is here: https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=199253 == Fix == UBUNTU: SAUCE: Input: elan_i2c - add ELAN0612 to the ACPI table == Regression Potential == Low. One liner to add a device id. == Test Case == A test kernel was built with this patch and tested by the original bug reporter. The bug reporter states the test kernel resolved the bug.
